Fritt Fall is a ride that first lifts the riders slowly up a tower and then drops them down, causing a sensation of weightlessness. The tower is 80m tall which makes it the second highest tower ride in the Europe in 2004. The extra height causes a longer free fall and a max speed of 105 km/h.
In 2004 one of the ride's 4 cars was modified, so there now is a seperate queue to the 3 old cars and the single new car. The modified car is now able to tilt 15-17° forwards before dropping. This adds to the overall ride experience, but so does to the lenght of the queues!
From this page you'll find out about the physics of Fritt Fall. (written in Swedish)
Gröna Lund's official homepage notes the free fall tower being originally built in 1966. So the tower propably originally operated as a panorama ride and was modified into a free fall in 1998.
