Liseberg's new attraction for 2005 is Kanonen, a hydraulic launch coaster by Intamin. It filled the gap for a looping rollercoaster in Liseberg's ride lineup, and also gave Nordic Countries their first full-blooded launched coaster.
Kanonen may be smaller than it's cousins on the other side of the pond, but it still packs a lot of punch and surprising elements. The track contains 4 spots with airtime and two loops in total, quite an achievement by Mr Stengel.
I highly recommend to read the Kanonen article on Coasters and More, which explains the technics of the hydraulic launch system. Apparently it consumes less energy than some chain lift motors (150 kW), no wonder why the accelerators have sold so well!
