Half Pipe is a unique coaster concept developed by Intamin. Linear Induction Motors (LIM) are used to accelerate the trains up a 30m tall ramp with vertical spikes. The coaster is very silent due to rubber joints used in connecting the supports. The train is formed by two spinning cars with 8 passengers facing outwards in both. The spinning of the cars is caused only by their eccentric axis so it's not powered by any motors. The free spinning means means that you can kick some extra spin to the cars if you have long legs. :)
Some think Half Pipe is not a rollercoaster at all. In my opinion however, it be called a rollercoaster, because the train is attached to the track just as in a regular full circuit coaster and the track is similiar.
The total lenght travelled on a single ride is about 600 m, so the 70-meter track is repeated 8,5 times on a ride. The ride time of Half Pipe is quite small, but that is almost necessary to maintain a moderate capacity.
Half Pipe has a small hourly rider capacity (about 500 people per hour), so you may have to wait even 30 minutes to ride the Pipe during the busiest days.
