B&M

The Swiss company Bolliger & Mabillard was founded by Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard, former workers of Intamin AG. Their first three coasters were all stand-ups, which they were familiar with designing from Intamin. In 1992 they introduced the first real inverted rollercoaster, Batman the Ride. It became an instant success with seven models already sold three years later. In 1993 B&M manufactuered their first gigantic looping steel coaster Kumba. Perhaps a better known coaster and for a long time the inversion world record holder, eight times inverting Dragon Khan followed a few years later. These two loopers had regular trains with seats with floors, but nowadays most of their new coasters have floorless trains with more sense of freedom.

B&M is known for their smooth coasters with twisted track and many loops. They are very popular with themed amusement parks, like Port Aventura and Warner Bros Movie World, propably due to high visual appeal. But buying a stack of steel from B&M doesn't come cheap either - most of their coasters come with a price tag anywhere between 10 and 20 million euros.

Nemesis, Katun, Batman La Fuga, Nemesis Inferno
These are the inverted coasters B&M has made for European parks. Nemesis has already been operating for 10 years. It was dug in a hole because its park Alton Towers has strict height limitations. That makes the experience even wilder, but the downside is that you can't really see what's happening next.

Katun, in Italy's Mirabilandia is almost 50m tall, making it Europe's tallest.

Batman La Fuga was opened in 2002 as one of the 4 major coasters in WB Movieworld Madrid. It's a clone of the American Batman: The Ride.

Oblivion, Air
Alton Towers is also the home of two other unique B&Ms. The flying rollercoaster AIR has lie-down seats as it's speciality. Before the train dispatches, it's seats are tilted 90 degrees forward.
Oblivion was for many years the vertical drop coaster until Vildsvinet was built. It's drop angle is about 88 degrees. The max speed is about 110 km/h as it dives into a massive underground hole.
Superman, Dragon Khan
The continents top two looping coasters are both in Spain. In my opinion, Superman is better for its brilliant camelback hill in the place where Dragon Khan has slow mid-course brakes.
Silver Star
Silver Star in Europa Park is standing an impressive 73m tall, making it the highest in Europe. The ride experience in very smooth and comfortable. But because of trim brakes slowing the train down it isn't quite as intense as Intamin's Expedition GeForce.
Dæmonen
And of course the latest one, Tivoli's new number one rollercoaster with it's very compact layout.
